Character Story:  
Root was carved by the witch from a dead tree in the castle courtyard, a monstrous creation capable of merging with other trees and extending branch-like tendrils to hunt. Consumed by the belief that devouring human brains would grant it greater intelligence, it relentlessly preyed on victims in its quest to comprehend the essence of "wisdom." Yet the more brains it consumed, the more fractured its thoughts became  until finally, it descended into utter madness.
